Can Õpet Foundation bridge the global education class divide?

Opet Foundation review

We have heard the promises:

“I am determined that our education system ensures that everyone is able to fulfill their potential, regardless of background.”  @10DowningStreet twitter account (August 2018)

“My ambition is to make sure every child, regardless of their background, can do well in this country…”                            Angela Rayner, Shadow Minister of Education (April 2017)

“…and ensuring that pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds have the same opportunities as their more affluent peers to benefit from the cultural capital of a stretching and rigorous curriculum is key to addressing the burning injustices in our societies and driving forward social mobility.”                 The Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP Department for Education (January 2018)

Despite similar statements over the years, inequality in education still exists! Pupils from privileged backgrounds have a huge advantage with financial constraints for extra tutoring not being an issue.

Those in temporary tenures of power talk-the-talk where Õpet Foundation will endeavor to walk-the-walk by combining blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to achieve two major objectives in education:

  1. To provide a learning companion for students all over the world with a machine learning algorithm capable of effectively learning and teaching the high school curriculum of any jurisdiction
  2. To build a trusted companion chatbot app which can be used as a channel to collect information about students’ profiles and preferences to be stored on a secured distributed ledger prior to their undergraduate or tertiary studies.

With equality, fairness and affordability in its ethos, Õpet will effectively provide students with a 24/7 ‘tutor’, with the ability to customise learning experiences in line with their strengths and weaknesses.

The target users for this exciting project are students studying for their national exams, i.e. GCSEs and A-levels, which are commonly taken at the ages of 16 and 18 in the UK,

and it will be delivered via a smartphone app which will make this educational platform easy to access and available whilst on the move.

Initially, Õpet will be focusing on four core subjects: maths, physics, chemistry and biology, and will be ‘gamifying the high school curriculum learning experience’ by monitoring competency in the form of quizzes.

Õpet’s aim for this platform is to create actual measurable results in terms of bridging the global income and class divide through education and in doing so ‘…bringing the sophisticated knowledge-rich conversations, typical of privileged families to the lesser privileged using our companion chatbot and utilizing AI recommendation technologies.’

“Until we get equality in education, we won’t have an equal society.” Sonia Maria Sotomayor, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, appointed by President Barack Obama.
